Herptivarius™ Ethics: Does NOT Condone the Breeding of Ball Pythons!

Ball Pythons are wonderful pets; however, the Reptivarius™ division has made a deliberate ethical decision not to breed them, indefinitely. As of November 2025, more than 35,000 Ball Pythons are listed for sale online — more than all other snake species combined.

Adding even more animals into an already oversaturated market would be irresponsible and would not support the long-term health of the reptile community. Instead, we dedicate our efforts to other species and strive to offer healthy, thoughtfully produced animals for keepers at every experience level.

Herptivarius™ Special Project: USCBB Green Tree Pythons

Green Tree Pythons remain one of the most heavily imported snakes in the United States. Many are wild-caught or farm-hatched, and a large percentage struggle to thrive in captivity. U.S. Captive-Bred and Born (USCBB) animals are rare, and individuals that do enter the market often exceed $1,000.

Herptivarius™ is committed to changing that.

Over the coming years, we aim to establish strong, healthy captive-bred lines of Green Tree Pythons right here in the United States — offering ethically produced animals at competitive prices, without relying on imports. This will be one of our flagship long-term breeding project.
